How to make money from your songs
Being a musician in this day and age is a competitive endeavour. Recording facilities are more accessible and there are now less barriers than ever for artists to release their music across multiple streaming platforms. This is a double edged sword. On one hand, there is more diversity and anyone can build up their own fanbase. On the other hand, less artists have the financial support of major labels. So how can you make money from your music?
Here at Evershare, we have been developing a platform that will allow you to sell a proportion of your streaming royalties to fans. Streaming royalties are normally collected by your distributor and then sent to you however this only happens every six months. With Evershare, if you need to raise funds now (say for an upcoming tour, new merchandise, or a new recording session) you can promise a percentage of the future royalties for a set price from your fans.
For example, if you need to raise £500, you can promise 5% of your streaming royalties from "song a" for £500. So, your fans can now buy a small percentage of your song so you can raise funds to continue making the music you love. One fan may buy 0.5% for £50, another 0.1% for £10. Unlike Kickstarter or Patreon, you don't have to promise some of your precious merch to those who donate or supply a constant stream of content to gain patrons. Instead, when your streaming royalties come through, Evershare will automatically share 5% of those royalties with your fans.
You are able to keep doing what you love with a modicum of financial security, and your fans that supported you right at the beginning are rewarded for their love and faith in what you have created.
It's a win-win.
